Having fraud prevention strategies is critical for your customer referral program. Out of the box, our WooCommerce Refer A Friend add-on has a few fraud rules:
The referral will be identified as potentially fraudulent and will be blocked from auto-approval. The IP address of the Advocate matches that of the client. Matching IP addresses doesn’t necessarily mean that the referral is fraudulent, as co-workers who use the same IP address may share your shop.
Matching cookies-A cookie is put in the browser for advocates and they will not be able to use a referral coupon if present. The coupon can not be used if there is a contest.
Matching emails: The billing email is reviewed against any prior orders when trying to use a referral coupon. The coupon can not be used if there is a contest.
